The Hamilton Project is one I whole-heartedly believe in and endorse. They give those who have given so much to our Armed Forces a chance to build a new life away from the Services. 
The Hamilton Project is a business support programme that teaches the process of enterprise and supports service-leavers and veterans who want to set up their own business. The project is named after the late Richard Hamilton and was created as a tribute to his memory. The programme provides learning material in easy-to-digest modules and fact-sheets and couples that with mentoring from experts.
The initiative is delivered free-of-charge to service leavers and veterans. And it works: in a major field trial with new businesses in 2003, the programme was shown to dramatically improve the sustainability of new businesses.
Richard Hamilton was an inspiring man. We first met on a cold November's night on the roof of a famous Cambridge landmark. I was there to indulge my love of climbing. Richard was there to study the architecture. We were both there for the adventure. Living life to the full, Richard passed SAS selection while working as a City lawyer. Seeking new challenges in his thirties, he then retrained as a doctor. He drowned while canoeing in the Scottish Highlands in 2005. The "Hamilton Project" has been set up as a tribute to Richard
